We have been busy making the final preparations for what is shaping up to be the largest American Homebrewers Association Big Brew in the thirteen-year history of this annual spring celebration. I was recently informed that Grand Rapids mayor George Heartwell will stop by the Calder Plaza this Saturday and will join us in the simultaneous, country-wide toast to the enriching hobby of home brewing.
Yesterday Greg Masck, Boyd Culver and I did an on-site test run for the custom-built, six-manifold chilling station that Boyd, the owner of
Coldbreak Brewing, designed and fabricated. We tapped into a fire hydrant on Monroe, ran a fire hose up a twenty foot wall to the plaza and ran the hose another 250 feet to the chilling station. I am happy to report that the Scorpion worked perfectly. See below for pictures of the setup.
